Our pillars
Generation
Generation at Knight Frank
Generational diversity in the workplace refers to having employees from various age groups, including Baby Boomers, Generation Z, and those in between.
Generation aims to combat age discrimination, addressing biases against both older and younger workers. Unconscious biases can lead to stereotypes about older workers, affecting succession, resource allocation, and symbolic identity. However, generational diversity goes beyond combating ageism; it brings valuable benefits to the workplace.
Diverse age groups contribute different perspectives, fostering innovation and creative problem-solving. Inter-generational mentoring enhances career development and boosts employee retention. Moreover, a generational diverse workforce enables better understanding of a varied customer base, improving marketing, product development, and customer service.
There are 5 generations working across our business, and it is crucial to our success that we can get the best from all our employees. We must be adaptable and supportive to the needs required from each generation but also make sure we foster an environment for intergenerational connection. Diverse generations bring unique perspectives and experiences to corporate spaces which we must encourage, not limit. I am honoured to be the Executive Sponsor of Generation as we work to make Knight Frank a workplace where everybody thrives.
