Why is it primed for growth?
Many are attracted to the Lower North Shore by the prospect of a short commute to the CBD and this has been amplified since the easing of lockdown restrictions. The area’s growing population of right-sizers – including those leaving behind sprawling family homes on the Upper North Shore – remains challenged, as demand for easily-maintainable luxury apartments and townhouses currently outstrips supply.
My favourite bits:
Taking a pitstop at The Boathouse at Balmoral Beach for a fresh seafood platter while hiking from Bondi to Manly. Almost 20km of this coastal walk – from Milsons Point to The Spit bridge, via the stunning Kirribilli jacaranda tree tunnel – is situated on the Lower North Shore, taking in breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour.
What will my money buy me?
A new two-bedroom apartment starts from A$1.6 million with limited water views. An established five-bedroom house with a garden and water views starts from A$5 million.
One thing the locals like to keep secret:
Meditating and enjoying a picnic lunch under the Port Jackson fig tree in Wendy’s Secret Garden at Lavender Bay. When renowned artist Brett Whiteley passed away, by way of grieving, his former wife Wendy cleared the dense bushland to the back of their property, opening it up so that members of the public could enjoy the same peaceful scenery that had inspired many of Whiteley’s iconic Sydney Harbour paintings.
