Heavily developed in the lead up to the 1998 Expo, the district is home to many tech companies that have moved to the city following its annual web summit. The area is seeing continued regeneration but is also becoming a hotspot for Lisboa families who enjoy the many parks, open spaces and riverside running and walking tracks. The area is now under another wave of regeneration including a new marina with 600 berths, restaurants, bars and a casino. This is a continuation of development heading over the Vasco da Gama Bridge that connects the north and south of the city.
There is plenty of green space and great areas for families, with walking and running tracks. It is also home to the Altice Arena, which hosts regular entertainment events.
Mostly Portuguese families and Chinese investors who have spotted the opportunity here.
