Where to live next in London: Notting Hill

If you were to design the perfect London neighbourhood from scratch, you might well land on something close to Notting Hill. Elegant stucco-fronted villas, vibrant local shops, leafy communal gardens, some of the city’s best schools – and a sense of culture that feels genuinely lived-in.

Personally, I love Lisa’s Italian, a family-run place at the top of Portobello Road. They’re lovely people. If you go there for dinner, they’ll really look after you.”

Julie’s is a great restaurant too – it’s not formal, but it feels very special. It’s been around since 1969 so it’s an institution.”

The Ladbroke Arms is a pub that’s a favourite with local residents. It’s small, cosy and has a great atmosphere. It’s one of those spots that if you know, you know.”
