Our latest Leading Indicators Dashboard. A weekly roundup of the economic and financial metrics you need to track, and what to look out for in the week ahead. This replaces our previous Daily Economic Dashboard.

In this edition:

  • Economic forecasts revised up – again. The European Central Bank has revised up 2021 Eurozone GDP forecasts to 4.6%, from 4.0%. European stock markets continue to rally.
  • UK expansion accelerates. Economic output grew by 2.3% in April alone, largely thanks to a strong contribution from the service sector. Meanwhile, the labour market is also showing signs of recovery, with the latest data showing that unemployment edged down to 4.7% in April.
  • Inflation: the debate continues. In the US, the Federal Reserve will issue a policy statement on Wednesday, and with US inflation reaching levels last seen in 2008, we expect discussions over the tapering of its $120bn monthly bond purchasing programme.
