The challenge of reliable comparable evidence.

The pandemic turbo charged trends that were already happening.

Property asset valuations are central to the process of performance measurement but the lack of accurate and reliable valuation data in most African markets is challenging and also challenging the ability of valuations to fulfil this role reliably.

It became evident after lockdowns particularly and during the pandemic that the returns delivered by a property are likely to be heavily influenced by appraisals rather than marginal trading prices. It is also evident that as a result of a lack of continuously traded deep and securitized markets, commercial property valuations perform a vital function in the property market by acting as a surrogate to the property prices.

In this webinar, we discuss how valuation influences performance and other challenges that valuers are facing doing valuations in an era of huge market disruptions mainly as a result of the pandemic.
