The provisional Q4 2017 UK GDP figure was reported this morning at 0.5%, up from 0.4% in Q3 and 0.3% in Q2. That is an economic recovery, albeit a gradual one.

There was good news for those covering office markets, with financial and business services a bright spot in the figures. Manufacturing also had a strong quarter. Although consumer-facing industries faced tougher conditions.

What is particularly encouraging about these figures is that GDP increased despite pipeline repair work in the North Sea oil fields – something which usually results in a damp quarter.

Full year GDP came in at 1.8%, beating consensus forecasts.

This is certainly a good way to finish this week.
