Why is it up and coming?

The 9th Arrondissement is nestled between Opéra Garnier in the 2nd Arrondissement and Sacré-Coeur in the 18th, offering some of the most beautiful Parisian architecture at the most affordable prices, all in a village-like atmosphere. The Nouvelle Athènes area, which houses the most authentic Haussmann architecture and was home to such illustrious names as Hugo, Delacroix, Chopin, Monet and Gauguin, deserves a special mention. It has a unique and authentic Parisian vibe and is on the doorstep of the city’s business district as well as being just a short walk to the Eurostar and the fun parts of South Pigalle (SoPI).

My favourite bits

Le Bon Georges restaurant on the rue Saint George offers fresh delicacies from across France delivered daily. Sébastien Gaudard’s pâtisserie in the rue des Martyrs makes the best chocolate éclairs in the whole of Paris, while the tartes aux fruits are the envy of every boulangerie in town.

Who’s buying?

There is a notable migration of young bobo (or bourgeois bohemian) clients from the Left Bank to the 9th Arrondissement in search of the authentic Paris. Primarily they are French property hunters although there is an increasing number of international purchasers.

What will my money buy me?

A one-bedroom property costs around €500,000, while a two-bedroom apartment is closer to €850,000.
