For those wanting to take a step away from London, or indeed a step closer without being right in the city, North Surrey makes the perfect choice. Wherever you are in the area, you’re never far from glorious British countryside and good transport links.  The area includes popular towns including Weybridge, Epsom, Esher, Cobham, Ripley and Surbiton. With excellent schools, award-winning restaurants and renowned sporting clubs and facilities, there’s a lot to love about the North Surrey area.

Residents of Surrey enjoy a great quality of life. Property wise, you benefit from more space and more greenery than you would in an equivalent London home. It’ll come as no surprise that it’s a popular place to call home for families. But the changing, younger and more multicultural, demographic may be less expected.

Stuart Cole, Head of North Surrey Sales at Knight Frank remarks that, “We’ve seen some interesting changes, with more international buyers than in recent years and from a more diverse global market…The age of our buyers has also come down.” There’s also been a high proportion of buyers relocating from the South West, as well as from London. Here are five reasons why you should consider moving to North Surrey.

Sporting lifestyle

If you lead an active life, North Surrey holds endless opportunities for you. There’s the legendary Wentworth golf club for starters, as well as Beaverbrook, St George’s Hill, Burhill, Effingham and The RAC. There are great equestrian facilities, along with horse racing at Epsom, Ascot and Sandown. You also have local health clubs including David Lloyd, Nuffield Health and Weybridge Health Club. Then, of course, there are walking and cycling trails. Try the Box Hill hike for incredible views over the 8 mile circuit.

Drive to Central London in a little over an hour via the M3 and/or M4. For international travel, there’s Gatwick airport to the east of the county and Heathrow to the north west. Private airports, Fairoaks and Redhill Aerodrome provide connections for helicopters and light aircraft. It really does present a ‘best of both worlds’ location with easy access to bustling local towns and the capital city as well as extensive woodland and open countryside including the Surrey Hills and North Downs.
