New five-day rule puts The Swiss Alps within reach
This week the UK Transport Secretary, announced new rules that will allow UK residents to reduce their quarantine by more than half if they pay for a Covid-19 test after five days. The rule will come into effect on 15 December and apply to all countries not currently listed on the UK's travel corridor list.

The tests will be available from private firms at a cost of between £65 and £120.
Test results will typically be issued in 24 to 48 hours, allowing arrivals to be released from quarantine six days after arrival, rather than the current 14 days.
This is welcome news for a ski industry left reeling from lockdowns and trying to get back on its feet in time for the winter season which typically starts in early December.

Swiss resorts open for business
Swiss resorts remain open for business including bars and restaurants although with social distancing rules in place. Thanks to some early snowfall St Moritz opened on 17th October and Verbier on 30th October. UK visitors arriving in Switzerland do not face any quarantine rules currently.

French resorts primed for a January reset
Although President Macron has announced that France is set to slowly ease out of lockdown from this weekend, French ski resorts will remain closed until the end of the year. The President will provide more detail on the future plans for ski resorts in 10 days’ time and the expectation is that assuming favourable conditions remain resorts could start to reopen in January.
