Assistant Manager, Consultancy, Singapore
Many other rotational programs only begin after graduation – so I felt that working part-time at Knight Frank in my final year would give me a head start.
I first heard about the NUS ‘Real Estate’ course during my visit to NUS Open House in 2011 – I stumbled across it really and I feel lucky that I did. During my four years on the course, I saw how dynamic the property market is – it is constantly evolving and this kept me engaged and interested in wanting to know more the about the industry as a whole.
Prior to applying I did a quick comparison of the various real estate schemes. While each has its pros and cons, I particularly liked how Knight Frank’s Graduate Scheme allows the successful applicants to go on to work in their preferred departments. The rotation is there to give you a wide exposure to the many different functions of the company and a feel for the market – which is valuable insight wherever you choose to work at the end.
There’s no question that there’s a big jump in stress and workload from study to the corporate world, but it’s an experience that I’ve found fulfilling. I’ve enjoyed the challenge, and the friendly culture and supportive working environment have played a big part in that. Everyone here brings an open mind, shows respect for one another and is always willing to embrace new and interesting ideas that come along the way. That’s helped to make it a great learning journey so far.
