To mark the launch of Knight Frank’s New York Market Insight Report Q4 2022, we look at four superb properties for sale in the city’s thriving Midtown.
November 24, 2022

Manhattan has always had an enchanting quality, but there’s something particularly magical about the city during Thanksgiving.

There is, of course, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, a beloved tradition that puts all eyes on NYC. But elsewhere, the numerous holiday markets, ice skating in Central Park and the lighting of the Rockefeller tree are also kick-starters of the festive season, lighting up the city and transforming it into a winter wonderland.

Knight Frank’s latest New York Insight Report reveals that the Manhattan property market is booming: in June 2022  prime prices increased by 7.1%, the strongest rate of growth for 8 years. The residential market has seen steady activity throughout 2022, spurred on by people returning to the city and strong rental demand.

The report highlights Midtown as a district with enduring appeal for buyers. An area that extends from Hell’s Kitchen in the West to Tudor City in the East, it's known for its world-class architecture, including The Chrysler Building, popular restaurants and iconic landmarks, such as Times Square. It’s also where you’ll find Central Park, which offers 2.5 miles of green space, while luxury shopping destinations and the Theatre District are only a short stroll away.

Here, we look at four outstanding properties for sale in Midtown that each offer something special in this captivating city.

The Towers of Waldorf Astoria, Park Avenue

Prices from: $1,800,000

The city’s first skyscraper hotel, which opened in 1931, is synonymous with old New York glamour.

Its reputation for luxury, excellence and glittering excess has drawn countless A-listers, global icons and royalty through its doors over the years. Regulars included Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and legendary composer Cole Porter, who lived in a 33rd-floor suite for nearly 30 years.

Now, after an extensive remodel, the iconic building has entered a new phase with 375 branded residences, representing a new opportunity for buyers to own a part of the historic hotel.

Homes at The Towers range from chic studios to opulent 4 bedroom residences, penthouses and marquee homes with private outdoor space. Residents have their own private entrance and lifts, and once inside, the homes have an elegant and contemporary feel with the highest grade materials thanks to renowned French designer Jean-Louis Denoit.

Elsewhere, residents have their own dedicated concierge team and access to all the hotel’s facilities, which extends to over 50,000 sq ft of leisure and wellness amenities.

Our recent Global Buyer Survey in the New York Insight report reveals that more than one in three buyers (39%) in Manhattan would be willing to pay a premium for a branded residence due to its exceptional services and amenities.
