_Top 8 reasons to invest in St Tropez

The mere mention of St Tropez conjures up images of chic glamour, glorious beaches and inimitable French charm. That remains true, but the area is evolving to make it an even more attractive investment option for the future.
June 10, 2022

There are so many reasons to explore St Tropez for investment opportunities. Here, we’ve selected our top 8. One big reason is that we’re delighted to be cementing our presence in the region with a new office in St Tropez. That enables us to partner with you even better and support you through your South of France property journey.

1. Its rich history

The village is said to be named after a Roman officer who landed there from Genoa in the year 68. As you look around the area, you’ll see buildings that date back to 15th and 16th century. The cobbled streets are steeped in history and so many interesting stories.

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, St Tropez drew creatives to its glistening shores. It’s no longer the same quiet fishing village, but it still attracts interesting people and their stories.

2. The chic glamour

In more recent history, the 1950s, St Tropez became synonymous with jet-setting celebrities and glamourous VIPs. This was thanks largely to Brigitte Bardot filming her legendary film, And God Created Woman, in St Tropez. Celebrities have flocked to the coastal resort ever since.

As our local expert, Jack Harris, notes “St Tropez has a unique chic lifestyle that positions itself as a go-to location for those looking for timeless glamour and French charm.”

3. Its French Riviera location

St Tropez may be the most well-known destination, but it’s not the only option in the region. You’ll find amazing white, sandy beaches in nearby Ramatuelle for example. Then there are great hiking trails and rolling countryside to explore. Don’t forget the must-visit local vineyards too.

We’ve been operating in this area for many years and we have an extensive network of regional experts. If you’d like to know more about the area, please do contact our team

4. Its superb sailing

Each September St Tropez hosts the world-renowned sailing regatta, Les Voiles de St Tropez. It’s a firm fixture on the yachting calendar. But sailing is always a firm fixture in St Tropez.

The charming harbour is home to vessels from super yachts to fishing boats. Setting sail on the glistening Mediterranean with the beautiful backdrop of the historic village is something super special.

5. Its eco beach clubs

St Tropez’ beaches have been legendary for decades, hosting VIP guests from around the globe. But in recent years, we’ve seen a shift in its beach clubs in particular.

There’s an increasing move towards more sustainable, eco resorts. Their focus is on health, wellbeing and provenance. Think spas, yoga and fresh juices rather than Champagne and all-night parties. Expect décor in sustainable wood and natural fabrics, with biophilia top of mind.

6. Futureproofing

Jack Harris says, "International jet-setters now have such a broad choice of destinations to visit, and St Tropez is acting to ensure it remains at the top of the list now and in the future."

This evolution of its hospitality offering is just one way in which St Tropez business owners and locals are adapting its provision for future generations. The town has pledged a commitment to do everything possible to secure a better future.

Provenance is a strong theme, with local food and drink increasing in prominence. More resorts are set up to promote tranquility and downtime. The sailing community is working towards climate positive action.

7. Its fantastic properties
