The editorial team has spent some time with Kristiana to get to know her and understand why she has been nominated Exceptional Woman of the Year!
How do you ensure you bring your best every day?
Kristiana Tjhin: I have my daily routine. Every night, I like to make a list of activities, things to be done the next day, and prioritise them. This allows me to focus and maximise my time in a very systematic way. In the office, we regularly meet in small teams to track our progress, resolve any issues we may be facing and collaborate to find the ultimate solutions. This way we can ensure we are all on track to complete our assignments and meet our objectives.
A strong body and healthy mind are the keys to success, and I also ensure I get plenty of rest, exercise and eat well, but most importantly, I make sure I also have some quiet time to refresh myself.
How do you invest in your personal growth?
KT: I regularly participate in professional development training organised by associations and third parties. I also like to attend some industry events to understand new developments and discuss trends or issues with peers. I also love traveling! At least once a year I travel with my family, this allows me to recharge, step back and reflect on my recent achievements.
Relating to this year’s Women International day theme #BreakTheBias, how do you think you could contribute to breaking the bias?
KT: There are still only a handful of professional women working in my field, especially in Indonesia. This is mostly due to the fact that this job is physically demanding, we have to go on-site which requires frequent traveling. Some of those locations can be rough and remote, and eventually, not many women end up doing this type of job.
How can we break the bias? I enjoy my work and like to challenge myself, aspire to be a better person stepping out of my comfort zone and discovering new things. I share those experiences with the other women in our business and encourage them to do the same. I like to help them and develop their skills especially in dealing with more significant projects, I mentor and guide them throughout their projects until their completion. Ultimately, we all grow as better people.
