_Exceptional Woman: Meet Georgia Ryan

March 14, 2022

Born in the Marlborough Sounds region of New Zealand’s South Island, Georgia Ryan feels passionate about advancing her local community while assisting the integration of new residents, matching them with a place to call home.  Georgia joined Bayleys early in her real estate career as a sales specialist because she was attracted to their lauded national reputation and ongoing commitment to diversity. Georgia also thought that their unique corporate social responsibility objectives would provide another important dimension to her own personal growth story.

The editorial team has spent some time with Georgia to better understand her motivations and why she has been nominated Exceptional Woman of the Year!

How do you contribute to a more inclusive environment in the workplace?

Georgia Ryan: My sister Claudia and I are part of the sales team and as two young women, in what was once a male-dominated industry, I believe our presence, capabilities, and command of evolving technology help young people to see that neither age nor gender is a barrier to success. The Marlborough sales market has a relatively small scope which makes cooperation between colleagues and workplace inclusivity even more important in the pursuit of results. I strive to lead by example, taking each individual at their merits, ensuring accountability remains a top professional priority.

Can you give us an example of long-term decisions that contributed to a client’s success?

GR: The decision to invest in myself as a business woman has enabled me to build an extremely successful brand in partnership with my sister Claudia. This has seen us achieve ‘Top 10% Status’ and earn several high-profile company awards including ‘Super Achiever of the Year,’ and ‘High Achiever of the Year’. My long-standing commitment to ethical business practices has supported hundreds of people into new homes, benefiting the local economy of the region I love so much. Similarly, I work in partnership with other salespeople and my personal acumen adds value to every client and colleague interaction.

Relating to this year’s Women International day theme #BreakTheBias, how do you think you could contribute to breaking the bias?

GR: I believe I have been breaking the bias since entering the industry at a very young age. I will continue to prove that young people can work as hard as other demographics, with a determination to effect results that benefit a wide range of community members. I will continue to contribute to #BreakTheBias by encouraging diversity, seeking opportunities for understanding, and ensuring I am engaged and in tune with people across my community and beyond. In the future, I’d like to seek a mentor position, adding value to another professional journey, while helping to foster individual confidence free from judgment.
