Val d’Isère is made up of a number of little hamlets: Le Cret, Le Joseray, La Legettaz, Le Chatelard, Le Laisinant, La Daille and Le Fornet, each with their own character and charm - and each is peppered with luxury chalets that command spectacular mountain views. Val d’Isère, although served by good transport links in and out of Lyon, Geneva and Chambery, is not all that easy to reach - it's a 3 hr drive from Geneva International Airport. But when you get there it is easy to see why so many people flock here every year: the skiing is quite simply phenomenal. Unsurprisingly Val d'Isere plays host every year to numerous major international skiing championships.
Val d’Isère is a charismatic and lively resort comfortably maintaining its village feel and sense of tradition. A wide main street runs the length of the town which is replete with busy shops and excellent restaurants. Every Monday the market comes to town which gives the area an authentic French feel.
