Despite the credit crunch, it has been reported that commercial property transactions are still continuing apace in the north-west of England.

Among the latest moves is the purchase of the 41,000 sq ft Greenwood's Office Park in Salford by Willan Investments, the Manchester Evening News has reported.

Discussing the £3 million acquisition, Willan's director Clive Richards told the paper: "Greenwood sits well alongside our current portfolio and ethos of providing high-quality accommodation that optimises fantastic value and accessibility."

The paper also reported the £4.2 million purchase of a series of warehouse units in Warrington by a partnership of Jones Lang Lasalle and Helios Properties.

Such moves have been eclipsed by a yet larger move by construction firm Balfour Beatty, which has bought Blackpool Airport.

The firm has paid £14 million to Ulster-based Mar Properties for the Fylde Coast asset, it has been revealed.
