Details of a large new property development for central Manchester has been revealed, which will involve an area of the city being transformed with new shops, offices and homes.
The former Central Spine plan, now renamed First Street, has had major furniture and homeware outlets incorporated into the design, reports Property Week.
Ken Knott, chief executive of developers Ask Developments, told the magazine: "Research has shown Manchester city centre lacks high-end furnishing and homewares shops."
The site - which was a candidate for the relocation of part of the BBC to the area from London before Media City in Salford Quays was chosen instead - will feature 1.8 million sq ft of office space, one million sq ft of residential space and 500,000 sq ft of retail space as it stretches from Whitworth Street West to Hulme.
It will also feature a 30ft green wall of vegetation down the middle.
The whole project will cost £750 million, the Manchester Evening news reports.
