A major proposed commercial property development in Manchester is awaiting confirmation due to the consortium behind it having not yet set to bid for a key part of the area.
Mayfield Manchester, consisting of Ringset, a subsidiary of Cheshire-based Wrather Group and Panamint Properties from Oxford has already acquired 90 per cent of the Mayfield site, which is next to Piccadilly Station, reports Crains Manchester Business.
However, while the partnership has declared it has plans to construct six million sq ft of office space on the site, the disused London Road Station buildings and six acres of space that comes with it have as yet not been the subject of a bid.
This station, which closed in the 1980s, is owned by the British Rail Residual Body for whom Drivers Jonas acts as advisor.
A spokesperson for Drivers Jonas confirmed to the website that no bid had yet been made and stated: "The onus is on Mayfield Manchester to make an approach and put a deal together."
Last year saw the take-up of office space in Manchester rising by 20 per cent year-on-year, reports Property Week.
