A shortlist of architects has been announced for a competition to produce a blueprint for the revamp of Lords Cricket Ground, a project which may involve the establishment of new commercial or residential property as a means of generating extra income.
BDP, David Chipperfield Architects, Dixon Jones, Herzog & de Meuron, and Hopkins Architects made up the shortlist, reports Property Week.
Plans for the famous venue in the St John's Wood area may involve building a new hotel or residential development at the Wellington Road end.
This would be created in tandem with new medical and training facilities for the players, additional seating for spectators and the possible installation of floodlights.
Lords Cricket Ground, named after its founder Thomas Lord, is owned by the Marylebone Cricket Club and hosts county matches played by Middlesex.
It is also the venue for major cricket matches such as the finals of domestic competitions and international games.
