A new residential property development has been given the green light by Croydon council, it has been revealed.
Planning permission has been granted for the Berkeley Homes project to create a 44-storey tower at Wellesley Square in the town centre.
The building will have 739 apartments and will be in line with plans to regenerate the district by 2020.
It has been designed to resemble the shape of a crocus, due to the theory that the name Croydon derives from the Latin words for crocus and valley.
Another property finance project in Greater London involves the purchase by a private buyer of a West End property for nearly £100 million.
Great Victoria Partnership No. 2 - a joint venture between Liverpool Victoria Friendly Society and Great Portland Estates - has sold an office and retail building at 208-222 Regent Street for £96.6 million, having originally bought the property for £53.7 million in 2005.
