Eastern Europe's next property hotspot will be Albania, it has been predicted.
Simon Walker, sales director of international investor portal Off Plan International, stated that the country is presently "what Bulgaria was six or seven years ago".
While Bulgaria's market has now reached a plateau, he suggested, Albania was set to grow due to it being likely to join the European Union (EU) in 2013 or 2014.
Mr Walker added: "Now is the time which the people looking to invest in that sort of country would be looking to do now for long-term potential."
Such investment could lead to those buying property in the country making healthy returns as the economy develops in the former Stalinist state.
Barrasford and Bird Worldwide, a firm of emerging market specialists, has stated that billions of pounds of investment is going into Albania ahead of its entry into the EU and its accession into Nato later this year.
